Initiated into theatre by French teachers like Philippe Lenglet and K. Madvane and later mentored by Barry John, Ashok Purang, the founder-director of Pierrot’s Troupe, has been passionately involved with theatre since 1980. After having directed over two dozen plays, important amongst them, Letter to a Child Never Born (Oriana Fallaci), A Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens), Einstein, Mirror Mirror on the Wall and Tale of the Taj, he went on to become the Creative Producer on an immensely delightful Hindi Feature film called Filmistaan, a successful film at the box-office that won National Award for the Best Feature Film in Hindi. It was hailed by top critics and lauded at many International film festivals.
